In the past, Lake Charles has been known for the American Press Basketball Tournament which served as one of the regions most coveted tournaments which featured NBA stars like Chris Bosh, Glenn "big baby" Davis and Tracy McGrady. This inaugural event is the re-creation of what was formerly known as "The Lake Charles American Press Tournament" or "The Lake Charles Pepsi Challenge" which also highlighted one of the greatest High school games ever played between the great Morgan Wooten's DeMatha High(MD)squad against Phyllis Wheatley High (Houston, TX), a game in which the final score was 120-115, with no three-point line.
